#BerlinFiles: 9 Hot Work Spots for Freelancers
Welcome to Berlin—a city of late risers, party animals, artists, and freelancers.
When you're not standing in line trying to get into Berghain, and you have to do 'actual work,' you just need three things: strong coffee, strong wifi, and easy access to a clean bathroom.
Here are the top nine places to plant yourself during your 'work from wherever' days:
1. Bonanza Coffee Roasters, Kotbusser Tor
Bonanza Cafe in Kreuzberg is HEAVEN ON CAFFEINATED EARTH. This large roaster/cafe is located down a back alley way. As you track down the back alley way there will be a petting zoo on your right, and apartment buildings on your left. I highly encourage you to stop and smell the flowers (and feed the animals) before you head inside.
Once inside, the staff will guide you to the best coffee option to match your taste buds. Take their recommendation with no questions asked (chances are they know coffee way better than you do). Wifi is strong, and the coffee is stronger—what else do you need? A bathroom, and it's located in the back.
2. Ivy Berlin, Neukölln
Ivy Berlin might be the cutest cafe in Neukölln. The owners are so friendly, so proud of their food, so relaxed, and so kind. Come early because this small cafe gets packed. There are windows in the back, and you can work outside from the front. I recommend their chocolate cookies.
3. My Goodness Kitchen (inside BeCycle), Mitte
Feeling hungry and needing something healthy? Head to My Goodness Kitchen. It's not necessarily the type of place where you want to hang out all day—but if you're looking for a spot to crash for 1-2 hours this is your best bet. It's centrally located and has a sea of hotties + their puppies floating in and out. Wifi is stable. Bring a jacket, because baby it's cold inside.
4. Cafe Milch & Zucker, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
I mean, the name itself gives you all you need—caffeine, nourishment, and sweetness. This is the type of place to stay all day, drink the coffee away, and give into your sugar cravings. Glug, glug, glug.
5. Sankt Oberholz, Mitte
Arguably one of the best coffee houses to work out of in Mitte. Give it a try. Sit upstairs.
6. Two and Two Cafe, Neukölln
Looking for something cute and cozy? Head to Two and Two and grab a pastry while you're there.
7. Kaffee Mitte, Mitte
Clean design, easy access to amazing shopping—but overly crowded on the weekends! Come here during early morning hours when the rest of the city is asleep. Flee when the city wakes up.
8. Hallesches Haus, Kreuzberg
Head here if you're feeling more serious. The amazing architecture and strong aesthetic will get the creative juices flowing into your brain. This is a place to get sh*t done, and possibly bring a friend? How else will you sit there for so long?
9. Unicorn Berlin, Mitte
Okay so at Unicorn Berlin you have an option to have a membership—do it if you're a committed person, but if you're anything like the rest of Berlin, you won't actually show up after you sign up. Even without the membership discount—there's great coffee, strong wifi, good crowd, and tons of interesting events (procrastination, anyone?).
Enjoy :)
